The Jewish shops in Via Rastello

In the 19th Century the Jewish community owned a lot of businesses outside the ghetto, especially in via Rastello, where they had many houses and shops.

In the second half of the century, at number 8, Gabriele Eugenio Pincherle (born in 1865) and the wife Olga Lopez Perera (born in 1868) opened a fancy-goods shop.

At number 12 via Rastello there was an important haberdashery and embroidery shop, owned by Giuseppe Moisè Michelstaedter (born in 1847), who lived there with the wife Clementina Bolaffio and the children Gilda, Guido and Emilio, cousins of the philosopher Carlo Michelstaedter.
