I was quick, I could finish a portrait in only three sessions, and I was able to reproduce skillfully the different texture of ornaments, accessories and fabrics. But above all, mine were "talking portraits".

Dear visitor, I'm especially known as a skilled portraitist, master in the use of light and chiaroscuro technique. Middle-class men, noblemen, high prelates, officials, and artists wanted to be immortalized by my hand because, as a fine psychologist, I was able to highlight the salient features of their personality. My works stand out for a sober style, filled with a balance and composure of neoclassical taste, which I never abandoned, although later I enriched with romantic suggestions. I was noticed by the Archduke Marianna of Austria, sister of Emperor Francis I, who, acknowledging my talent, sent me to Rome to learn more. Here I came into contact with some great painters of the time, such as Francesco Hayez and Ingres, and learned the engraving techniques by Bartolomeo Pinelli. I produced in this period are The Venus and Cupid, The Reader, and also an Apostle Study.
