Ettore Ritter

I brought my global vision into the Chamber of Commerce of Gorizia, of which I was the first President: the economic sectors we represent are interdependent and the communication routes are powerful means of increasing the speed of circulation of goods and capital.

Dear visitor, I come from a family of important entrepreneurs of German origins, from whom I inherited a strong commercial talent. I started various activities in the Gorizia area, such as the construction of the grain warehouse in Straccis, of the Ritter-Rittmeyer spinning wheel and weaving mill, the production of the Podgora paper mill (Piedimonte), which I bought from the Ascolis, and the acquisition of a farm in Monastero di Aquileia. I was the first President of the Gorizia Chamber of Commerce, established in 1850 with sovereign resolution. I brought my global vision into it, of which I was the first President: the economic sectors we represent are interdependent and the communication routes are powerful means of increasing the speed of circulation of goods and capital. For my merits Francis Joseph appointed me knight, baron (1866) and a member of the House of Lords.
