Carlo Rubbia

Knowledge is based on uncertainty, on goals that seem impossible, on the little things that we see far away, indefinite and frightening, but able to attract us like a magnet. Only the intrepid ones and the adventurers will see them up close. The world has been changed by the exception, not by the average.

Dear visitor, I’m Carlo Rubbia, and I have dedicated my life to the research of knowledge and truth. From Gorizia, my hometown, my passion for physics led me to teach, study and experiment in many places: from the Normale in Pisa, to the CERN in Geneva, from the Columbia University to Harvard. Among others. In 1984 I was awarded the Nobel Prize for discovering at last the small and elusive particles, the "intermediate vector bosons", that are fundamental for our understanding of the universe, and that confirm the theory of unification of the electromagnetic force with the weak interaction.

But in my opinion the greatest recognition, the greatest form of freedom, is being able to ask ourselves where we come from and where we go.
