He graduated in math at the University of Graz and at the outbreak of the First World War went to Zürich where he took care of the Jewish and Zionist education of children of Eastern Europe refugees. In 1922, when he came back, he continued his mission to educate young people to return to Jewish life. The teaching was not just theory it was also practical with activities (in conflict with adult’s attitudes that were more oriented to assimilation). He created two groups of young people divided by age group and ran Hebrew language courses.
