Renovation was a “constant state" of my life. First Catholic, then Lutheran and reformer. In Gorizia I preached in Slovenian, Italian and German. I published my first books in Slovenian and, for this reason, I am considered the father of Slovenian literature.
Dear visitor, I am considered the father of Slovenian literature. In 1550 I published "Catechism", the first printed book in Slovenian language, followed by many other religious works. I was not only a writer but also a reformer, and I am considered the most active animator of the Protestant Reformation on Slovenian territory. Renovation was a "constant state" of my life. First Catholic, I approached Lutheranism at the school of the Bishop of Trieste Pietro Bonomo, and I stayed with a noble family in Piazza Cavour in Gorizia, where I preached in three languages: Slovenian, German and Italian.
