Piazza Sant’Antonio - Gli Asburgo

Franz Joseph continued his visit into Piazza Sant’Antonio, where, since 1852, there was a covered market of wood.

Here trading took place for Carniolan barrels. It also hosted fairs that in the 19th Century still regularly enlivened the city with acrobats and many kinds of entertainment.
On this occasion the Imperial Regia Società Agraria, presided over by the Count Francesco Coronini, set up a stand with fresh and dried fruit, candied fruit and locally-grown grapes, for which the Emperor showed interest and appreciation.
