We find ourselves here, on the outer walls of the Castle, in the center of a quiet oasis in the middle of the city, shaded by tall maritime pines and embellished with some modern sculptures, overlooked by various noble palaces dating back to the 16th century (the Tasso, Panizzolo, Dornberg and Formentini houses).
The bastions of the medieval town walls, overlooking the Riva del Castello, offer a beautiful view of the southern part of the city: the cathedral bell tower can be seen in the distance, and, looking further, Mount Calvary, across the Isonzo River, and, further to the left, the western foothills of the Gorizia Karst. A perfect setting for a romantic declaration of love...
