The first theatre in Gorizia, which still exists on the same site today, was opened by the nobleman Giacomo Bandeu in 1740. Despite alternating fortunes, fires, renovations, and war damage, the theatre, after a long period of closure, was completely renovated and reopened to artistic activity in 2002.

Unfortunately, however, our ancient chronographic signpost, which was placed on the corner of the Assicurazioni Generali building, between the current Via Garibaldi and the Corso, has been lost.
