The clock of Palazzo Alvarez
Continuing along Via Rismondo, you pass the park that houses the Lutheran Church, built in 1864 on land donated by the wealthy industrialist Ritter family. After the Great War, the community, whose Italian population had since grown, joined the Methodist Episcopal Church.
The entrance to the austere church lies on Via Diaz, formerly Via Alvarez, formerly Studenitz, which leads to Palazzo Alvarez, which from 1753 to 1983 housed an institute for the care and education of orphaned children and later, thanks to the Brothers of Mercy (as the order of St. John of God was called in Austria), a hospital that over the years became a long-term care facility.
It currently houses the Gorizia branch of the University of Udine.
