San Gabriele – Wild Plum Street
The main direct communication route between the Italian part of the city of Gorizia and the Slovenian part of the same name, Nova Gorica; called Via del Camposanto in the early 20th century, it was the road that led to the city cemetery of Grassigna (destroyed during the First World War).
Today, its side streets are planted with wild plum trees; their thick, deep red foliage explodes in full bloom, giving way to the beautiful pink of their flowers. The Transalpina Station and the Castagnevizza Monastery are just a short distance away, making them a perfect combination for a unique route of great historical, scenic, and undoubtedly romantic value.
