What remains of the cloister of the ancient convent of the Friars Minor, which legend has it was founded in the 13th century by Saint Anthony of Padua, overlooks the square of the same name, formerly Piazza delle Legna and then Piazza del Schoenhaus, named after the ancient hunting residence of the Counts of Gorizia, now Palazzo Lantieri.

On the other side of the square is Palazzo Strassoldo (17th century), which hosted the exiled French royal family and is now one of the city's most prestigious hotels. A scenic setting, it's ideal for a stop during a romantic stroll through the city's most evocative sights.
