We now continue along Via Garibaldi, initially passing by what was once one of the most prestigious hotels in the city, the Hotel de la Poste.

Continuing toward the Town Hall, we take a look, on the left side of the street, at the Baroque façade of the ancient church dedicated to the Immaculate Virgin, dating back to the second half of the 17th century. Inside, we can admire the majestic Baroque high altar and the ceiling, richly decorated with elaborate stuccoes, enclosing nine frescoes depicting the Glory of Mary, the work of G. Quaglio. A curious feature of many historic residences in Gorizia is the presence of serious and sometimes disturbing masks on the keystones of the main entrances, also known as "Panduri" (feared Hungarian warriors), placed there by the owners to guard and protect the serenity of their homes.
