One of the new border crossings was created close to the civilian cemetery of Miren and, as in the case of the barn in Via del Rafut, it became a symbol of the artificial creation of the border after 1947.

The cemetery was in fact divided in two by a metal fence, which divided ownership between Yugoslavia and Italy. Only later, thanks to an agreement between the two states, did the cemetery pass entirely to Yugoslavia, and the border was moved to the perimeter wall. Today, the fence no longer exists, but the various white boundary stones marking the border are still visible and identifiable.
