Cippo Grenadiers of Sardinia

The memorial stone dedicated to the Grenadiers of Sardinia bears witness to the brutal battles that took place during the Great War in the sectors of Sabotino, Quota 188 and Lenzuolo Bianco.

Height 188 was first captured by the Sardinian Grenadiers during the Fourth Battle of the Isonzo (November 10–December 5) on November 20, 1915; the price paid was extremely high: between October and November, 82 officers and 1,900 men were taken out of action. The memorial stone was erected in the early 1930s. Its construction was financed by Mario Perrini, a Gold Medal winner for Military Valor.
