The walkway leads to the large northern bastion which at the time of the conflict offered a privileged viewpoint of the front.

Even today it is called the “King’s Observatory” because it was said that the King of Italy Vittorio Emanuele stopped at this very spot to follow the war operations during his visit to Gorizia in July 1917. Today, from here you can access the Castle’s urban park.
