Piuma-Isonzo Park

Piuma Park, located between Mount Calvario and the right bank of the Isonzo River, occupies an area of 32 hectares divided into two zones.

The first, hilly and mostly wooded, lies between the Groina stream and the Oslavia hills; the second, fluvial, develops along the course of the Isonzo, in a suggestive alternation of small inlets and rocky spurs.

The upper part, mostly wooded, is equipped for trekking and also includes a fitness trail for physical activity and numerous refreshment areas with outdoor grills, while along the river it is possible to go kayaking and canoeing.

Both areas boast a remarkable variety of flora and fauna, with a predominance of chestnut, oak, and downy oak trees, wild cherry, and ash trees. These trees are home to wild boars, roe deer, foxes, hares, and squirrels, as well as eagle owls and little owls. Swans nest along the river, and herons find refuge there.
