View of Corso Verdi at the intersection with the current Via Garibaldi and Via Diaz. Until 1901, it was called Via del Giardino. On the left, the headquarters of the Cassa di Risparmio di Gorizia, built in 1959, is no longer there, but there is a small café. On the right, the Assicurazioni Generali building, which also housed the postal services in the 19th century. Note the train tracks that at the time connected the two railway stations, the Meridionale and the Transalpina.

The entrance to Via del Teatro—now Via Garibaldi. The street connected the main street with the Palazzo Attems Santacroce, built in the 18th century, purchased in 1907 by the municipality, and now the town hall. On the right in the photo, you can see the Teatro Verdi, formerly the Teatro di Società, which had existed on this site since the 18th century and gave the street its first name; in fact, it was not named after Garibaldi until after 1918.
