Upon exiting the Castle, walking along the western bastions, you descend towards the ancient church of Santo Spirito, whose construction was begun in 1398 by order of the Rabatta family.

Before the war, it appeared to be part of a complex building complex consisting of rather simple old houses that suffered severe damage during the war, to the point of having to be demolished between 1920 and 1935. All the houses flanking the climb to the Castle on either side were also hit and destroyed, while the two medieval facades of the small church were miraculously saved, although the northern rear wall, built against one of the collapsed houses, collapsed entirely. In February 1917, Emperor Charles and his wife Zita even stood before this destruction.
