At half past three in the afternoon the emperor arrived by carriage in Piazza Duomo, now Piazza Cavour, and stopped in front of the entrance to the Palazzo degli Stati Provinciali, which today houses the Police Headquarters.

On the facade of the palace, a large plaque “in green serpentine framed in bronze” was discovered, in which, in two circular frames, were set the portraits of the last Count Leonardo and Emperor Maximilian I, which reproduced the two sides of the commemorative medal donated to the emperor.

The plaque was dismantled in the 1920s and is currently visible on the internal wall facing the small garden of the Attems-Petzenstein palace, home to the Pinacoteca dei Musei Provinciali.
