Carolina Sabbadini Luzzatto, an important writer and poet of the Jewish community, lived in this building.

At a time when women were expected to be only wives and mothers, Carolina went down in history for her work as a journalist and for being the first female editor of an Italian newspaper. A key figure in Gorizia's liberal-national irredentist press, from 1878 to 1880 she was editor of "L'Isonzo," and in 1880 of "Il Raccoltatore" and "L'Imparziale." From 1883 to 1889, she edited "Il Corriere di Gorizia," and from 1901 to 1914, "Il Corriere Friulano." She was also the Gorizia correspondent for various periodicals, including "Il Piccolo," "La Patria del Friuli," and "Le Pagine Friulane," and was a member of several city cultural associations.

Aunt of the philosopher Carlo Michelstaedter, she was arrested in 1915, despite her advanced age (78) and poor health. She was interned in the Göllersdorf penitentiary and later confined in Oberhollabrunn. She died in 1919 in Gorizia, where she had returned. Today she rests in the Jewish cemetery of Valdirose.
