The Roman column commemorates the sacrifice of the 57th and 58th Regiments of the Abruzzi Brigade.

The 57th's task was to attack the Oslavia ridge, and the fighting lasted three days (6–8 August 1916). Its valor and courage were rewarded with the Silver Medal of Military Valor awarded to the war flag.
