CATHOLIC BOOKSTORE – KATOLIŠKA KNJIGARNA

At the initiative of the Union of Slovenian Priests, the Catholic Bookshop – Katoliška knjigarna was founded in 1910, located in the Monte di Pietà building at Via Carducci no. 2.

The building suffered severe damage during the First World War. Operations resumed in 1926.

Since these premises were unsuitable for the business, in 1930 the Board of Directors moved the headquarters to Victoria-Travnik Square no. 11. In 1935 the building at Victoria Square no. 25 was purchased, where the bookshop is still located today.

In 2003, the building was completely renovated, maintaining its characteristic Art Nouveau style. The library's furnishings were updated in 2007.

The Catholic Bookshop is one of the historic bookshops in our region and is listed as a Historic Bookshop by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage of the Italian Republic.

Over the course of its more than century-long history, the bookshop has published numerous publications and today offers a wide selection of books in Slovenian and Italian, all for school and office use, as well as sacred objects.
