FLAIR PASTRY CAFE
Carlo Michelstaedter, a famous philosopher and writer of the late 19th century, confessed on several occasions that he could not resist the enveloping aroma of leavened products, cakes, and delicacies that wafted from the courtyard of the building at Piazza della Vittoria 9. Not even the mortar shells of World War I, which severely damaged the building, put an end to the shop's business.
Over more than a century, the business has changed hands several times: from the famous and award-winning "Pordon" to "Osbat" to "Mengotti," before becoming "Pasticceria Sabrina" in 1958, with award-winning pastry chef Carlo Cravos (winner of the Italian Pastry Oscar) and his wife Rita. Today, passed down to their daughter Michela and grandson Daniele, it has become "Pasticceria Caffetteria Flair."
At the counter, traditional desserts are served, such as Gubane Goriziane, Sacher, Paste creme, Dobos, Russe, Banane, Strudel, and many others. They also offer a wide selection of dry pastries, including the almond biscuits, so beloved by Carlo Michelstaedter, made for him by Mrs. Cassini, mother of his fiancée Argia. All this can be enjoyed with an excellent and carefully prepared coffee.
Extensive list of local wines.
