Football was my passion. My exhortation to the Italian national team in 1982 has gone down in history: “First: don't concede! Second: it's imperative to win! Third: there's no third point because the first two have already said it all!”

 

Dear visitor, I was a footballer and coach of the Italian national team. My football career began in Gorizia, where I proudly wore the white and blue jersey of Pro Gorizia before taking flight to the ranks of Inter, Catania, and Torino. Despite my 300 appearances in Serie A, I am best remembered as the coach who led the Italian national football team to their third World Cup title, in Spain in 1982, at the end of an exceptional challenge, culminating in the final at the Bernabeu and the indelible snapshots of Tardelli's roar, the triple "World Champions." My exhortation to the team has gone down in history: "First: don't concede! Second: it's imperative to win! Third: there is no third point because the first two have already said it all!"
