Dora Bassi

First the idea, then the desire and will to leave a permanent trace of my work as an artist in Gorizia, my city, had slowly consolidated over the last twenty years, but then, in an instant, everything became urgent.

Dear visitor, I am a twentieth-century artist, and as such, I have experienced particularly defining moments that forced me to rethink my relationship with contemporary art. I grew up immersed in the beauty and variety of colors of the landscape around me, and fascinated by the harmony and evocative power of words, discovering a profound empathy with Pasolini, a poet I have always admired.

From this harmony was born a work that I wanted to donate to Gorizia, my city: the cycle of paintings entitled “Innocent Youth ” – dedicated to and inspired by Pier Paolo Pasolini’s Poems in Casarsa
