Zoran Music returns home to Gorizia, to the world of exchange, encounter, and overlapping of diverse cultural backgrounds that shaped his life. The exhibition "Zoran Music. The Zurich Room, the Works, and the Atelier," curated by Daniela Ferretti, is dedicated to the great Italian-Slovenian artist.
The exhibition will be hosted from Sunday, May 25th at Palazzo Attems Petzenstein, in Piazza De Amicis, and will be open until October 31st every day from 9 am to 7 pm.
The exhibition unfolds around a masterful work, created between the late 1940s and early 1950s, commissioned by Swiss sisters Charlotte and Nelly Dornacher. Fascinated by the decor of his Venetian studio, they asked the artist to reproduce it in the cellar of their villa in Zollikon, in the hills above Zurich, transforming it into a welcoming meeting place for friends.
Paolo Cadorin, a great expert in the art of conservation, Music's friend and later brother-in-law, applied his knowledge with a view to a recovery that would allow the work to be enjoyed outside the reality for which it was conceived.
Over one hundred works will be exhibited, divided into decades from the 1930s to 2000, all from the artist's family or private sphere. A video about the Room, the artist's creations, and the artist's locations will accompany visitors.
