Commercial District

On May 8, 2023, the Municipality of Gorizia signed a memorandum of understanding for the establishment of the "City of Gorizia" Commercial District with nine partners. In addition to the Municipality, the lead entity and first signatory, the agreement was also signed by the Venezia Giulia Chamber of Commerce, Confcommercio Gorizia, Confartigianato Gorizia, the Venezia Giulia Economic Development Consortium, the Coronini Foundation, Gect Go, Coldiretti Gorizia, the Ribolla Gialla Producers Association, and Cassa Rurale FVG.

Regional Law No. 3/2021 "SviluppoImpresa" promotes the identification of commercial districts, as territorial areas where businesses, social groups, and local stakeholders can gather. This is aimed at enhancing and regenerating city centers and urban areas with a commercial vocation, including through the implementation of projects aimed at promoting and enhancing their history, culture, and traditions, revitalizing their tourist appeal, creating opportunities for socializing and gathering, and enhancing the offering of locally sourced, low-impact products.

The District area includes:

On June 8, 2023, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region officially recognized the “City of Gorizia” District.

  • the historic center;
  • the city centre understood as the area of ​​the Covered Market in Via Boccaccio and the commercial area of ​​Corso Italia, Corso Verdi, Via Oberdan and the area connecting Piazza Vittoria and Piazza Transalpina;
  • the Oslavia area;
  • the commercial area of ​​Via Terza Armata;
  • the industrial and commercial area of ​​Piedimonte.

Numerous initiatives are planned within the District, including environmental and street furniture renovation, the creation of pedestrian areas, the redevelopment of areas for festivals, fairs, and markets, urban forestry, sustainable mobility, marketing activities, urban development, and a call for proposals for businesses.

Starting in January 2023, the partners met periodically to collaborate on drafting the grant application for the implementation of the district projects to be submitted to the Region, identifying the district area, and drafting the call for proposals for businesses.

Furthermore, they have carefully defined the activities carried out by the individual partner entities to achieve synergistic and coordinated work.
